A traditional Thai lunch is usually provided and a visit to a beautiful waterfall or two is always an option. Other popular sights include some fascinating rock formations on Koh Samui’s south coast, known as Hin Ta and Hin Yai (or Grandmother and Grandfather rocks), and a demonstration of the creation of rubber – one of Thailand’s largest exports. If you are looking to do some serious shopping in Koh Samui, Chaweng really is the place to be. The main street parallel to the beach has a never-ending strip of shops selling custom-made suits, local souvenirs, electronics, art, jewellery, bags, clothes… you name it, Chaweng has it!

Central Festival, a fairly new shopping precinct, is also located in the middle of this busy road and has many modern shops and restaurants to enjoy. Growing in popularity with tourists are also the bigger supermarkets, Big C and Tesco Lotus, which are both, located in Chaweng. If you can’t find something in Chaweng, you are unlikely to find it elsewhere!

Mantra Samui Resort - Shopping

Nathon is a nice old-fashioned port town located on the west coast of Koh Samui. Although not as busy and hectic as other areas, there is still some good shopping to be had in this part of the island. Cheaper than the more popular towns such as Chaweng, you can find a real bargain in the shops and many locals will be found shopping here. The two main roads filled with shops have much to offer, from souvenirs and silk goods to quirky handicrafts, shoes and much more.

Nathon’s seafront plaza is transformed every Saturday night, into a bustling walking street. Attended by many locals and travellers from around the world, this market has food choices from A to Z and a huge amount of souvenirs to buy. The prices tend to be cheaper than the more popular areas such as Chaweng and the vendors are proud to tell you about their products. A great spot for some people watching and an enjoyable night out.
